Also growing in the area of Garfield campsite, there was a 50' patch of golden rod in bloom that summer that attracted all sorts of wild life. including a little white butterfly.

These were the white aster that were growing outside of my 12' x 12' canvas tent when I was care taking Garfield shelter, in the white mountains.


I had been toying with the idea of making this a diptych for a long time and I finally did it. It looks great so is now two 12" x 12" paintings.

I painted this, sitting across the street from the Auto Road on rout 16 in NH. it was one of my days off. The second summer I worked for the AMC in the White Mountains.

This is an older painting from the first summer I was living in the White mountains. Hiking along the ridge is quit beautiful, even when it is socked in with clouds.
